Trip to KL and lesson learnt

I went back to KL yesterday for a business meeting.

Met with some people at Sunway Hotel for coffee and light drinks. I found out that all of them, rich or successful in what they are doing, have one common problem.

....MARRIAGE PROBLEM.....

...and you will not believe the 'excuse'. The excuse is 'women change after they get married'.

I did not spell wrong. I did not say 'Men Change'. I said 'Women Change'.

Men do not change. Men just hide some of their bad habits before marriage like er...er...brush their teeth before they have a date (some dun even brush their teeth before sleep) (ah...just in case, I do). Their room is messy (they usually tidy it up before you first visit their rooms). They have very little money (they spent it all on stupid things like date, drinking etc). All these will surface when you know them better or into a long term relationship. But all these are very EASY to see.

But women are different. They change ie. they were NOT like that before, but for some reasons which no one could understands, they CHANGE. For example, the wife of this senior VP of this foreign banks would not allow the husband to take the kids to the park. Reason being, he cannot take care of the kids. This investment banker was crying foul...he said 'before the wedding, she trusted me for everything, now I cannot even take my kid out to the park'......

Another example, another's wife became very manja (I think when a woman found THE man, she naturally becomes more manja). Every time they come into a 'deadlock' situation ie. they argue till no one has a new point, the wife will say 'I AM A WOMAN. I AM LIKE THAT'. She won......the man lose

Another banker knew that I was getting married and said this to me 'anyway, we are sure that the force will always keep you good luck and be good. if you can't be good, be careful :sometimes, or should i say, most of time, women are notwhat you think they are. be careful when you think you'vemanaged to con her. most likely, she might just LET youthink that you've swindled her'

I dun know what they were saying. They were talking to this young good looking man (ahem...me la) who die die is getting married soon.

And certainly, this young good looking man (aikss...me la) has no idea what he is getting into....

Unemployed.....

Loc Kee, na....go register la.....

Star poll on unemployed graduates
The government has expressed concern over the growing number of unemployed graduates in the country. Latest statistics indicate that there could be as many as 80,000 of such graduates who are having difficulty finding jobs. If you are an unemployed graduate, please take part in this poll to help us get a better understanding of the issue.

I attended a career fair 3 years ago when I finished my postgrad. I still remember this scene vividly where the Vice President of a particular foreing co was preaching about his co. 5 min into his speech, he said 'BTW, anyone of you from the local university?'

Some 15-20 people raised their hands. VP continued' "ohhh...we don't hire local grads....".

Luckily I graduated from Bangladesh. But still, my heart was saying 'KNN, need to be soooo arrogant or not ah?'

But to be honest, I dun blame the VP. I still remember I got the first job before they asked me any questions. You know why? Because I wore a tie. The interviewer told me that many many who came that morning, came without a tie. and many of them came from the local U.

We already have a fucked up system, where a lot of people are doing courses like 'Tamadun Melayu". Friends, I am not against learning history and I appreciate the importance of it. I respect that. But if you bloody hell spent 3 years doing a degree in that, what sort of job you think you would get? Merger and Acquistion with JP Morgan issit?

What make the matter worse is that the uni aren't doing themselves any favour. They never taught any soft skills to this young boys and girls. They did not teach them how to look for a job, what are the do and don't during an interview, there is NO networking training and there isn't a strong alumni.

Why is Chicago Business School, Harvard, Stanford etc etc sooooo strong? because they teach you how to look for a job before you started learning anything academically. They also have very strong alumni. Alumni = Networking. They organise cocktail party every now and then, so that the old can meet the young to SHARE. That tradition continues for yearsssssss.

When was the last time your local uni called you up to attend an alumni meeting or party?

Do you want fries with that?

Fasten your seat belt.....

Malaysia on the verge of take-off
It has been an eventful week for the Malaysian capital market and banking industry with the Government announcing a slew of measures aimed at strengthening the economy and adding depth to the capital markets. The transformation of the financial landscape was signalled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi when he announced at the Invest Malaysia 2005 conference the names of the foreign brokers. The following day, Bank Negara also unveiled a series of measures designed to overhaul the exchange market.

I am pretty encouraged with the way PM and team shaping up our financial industry. Opening up the industry to big boys like JP Morgan etc will only make Malaysia's financial industry more competitive and more efficient.

Dun get me wrong, all these big boys CLSA, UBS, JP are all sharks. THEY ARE HERE TO MAKE MONEY.

Financial market is the backbone of a country's economy. At the end of the day, FINANCING is the key to BUSINESS development. When you add thousands of business together, you have the ECONOMY. (Tiu lor, I am not sure if my econ professor would vomit blood if I explain 'Economy' in that manner....). (Anyway, this is my blog, he would not read it...what the heck....)

A strong banking industry provide efficient financing to companies i.e. they do not 'chin chai' (simply) lend money to every tom dick and harry (like what we have in China). A strong capital market (equity side) allows hard working entrepreneur to share his risk with other retail investors (i.e. partial exit for businessman) and allow them to go IPO.

I like what I saw in the past few days. Those were decent, well thought decisions made by the Government.

You throw your kids into the wood, they will still survive

IJM to duplicate its M'sian experience in India
IJM Corporation Bhd sees India as a big market and an ideal area for it to duplicate its Malaysian experience, its CEO and managing director Datuk Krishnan Tan says.

I still remember 2 years ago, all these construction big boys were complaining like hell that if the government was to cut spending, they would die la, house broken people (**Censored**) et etc.

Government bo-chap (ie. did not give a damn) and went ahead to cut budget deficit.

Today, IJM is going big into India and Vietnam. They said they would die 2 years ago. But never die. Still standing (er...er......Loc Kee, not that one...put it down....).

What is the moral of the story? Well, next time when your wife asks you to buy more SKII saying that they will die, grow old, bo-shui (not pretty) etc etc...DON'T BELIEVE THEM.

:D

De-peg good or bad?

Ah-Computerer-Fei-Chai-Don't-Want-Proton-Loc-Kee, I last did my econ when I was doing my STPM until now, I dunt even know how to spell economy in Malay...but let me try.

The currency issue is a big issue. First you must understand the history of this currency in US currency where the Bretton Wood system was abolished many years ago. It is also important to know the supply and demand for our RM currency and analyse the trend. Watch closely the trade partners movement ie. our import and export with US, China and Singapore. Central banks worldwide are also buy more Euro and less US. Then pay attention to the inflation rate and the interest rate differencial between RM and US. Once you have understand all that, ignore them...because the short answer is, if your company pays you in US$ and you convert it yourself, then NO GOOD because RM will appreciate if de-peg. If they pay you in RM, then NO Difference.

Like that can ah?

One wave not flaten, another wave comes up

Baros' ban leaves Liverpool without a single senior striker. Fernando Morientes was injured in the 2-1 win over Everton, while Djibril Cisse, Florent Sinama-Pongolle, Harry Kewell and Neil Mellor are also sidelined.

This is the first time I see a club with such bad luck....

Imagine you spend millions on 2 top strikers like Moreintes and Cisse when you already have a world class striker like Baros and a promising young striker Sinama. You also have 1 useless but well known striker Kewell AND a dun know who but clumsy Mellor...BUT You are going into next match without a SINGLE striker.......sky where got eye?

I said long long time agao, the feng sui in Anfield needs attention....

Ringgit Again

Ringgit re-peg or de-peg?

THE heat is still turned on the ringgit peg, and many speculate that something should happen sometime this year. Will it be a re-peg or, as what some are talking about lately, a de-peg?

I don't know about you. I find the Malaysia inflation scary. EVERY BLOODY THING IS SO EXPENSIVE. I have the feeling that the Malaysian Government will depeg the ringgit soon. In fact VERY SOON. This is the safest and quickest way of dealing with our inflation.

If you have foreign currencies, convert to RM NOW!!! La la sound go NOW!

If you are travelling to overseas soon, then try to convert your RM to foreign currencies as LATE as possible.

(Travelling also so complicated...)

Gen2

Proton GEN.2 sales set to double to 60,000 units, says CEO

BY IZATUN SHARI in PUTRAJAYA
PROTON Holdings Bhd expects to double local sales of its GEN.2 model to 60,000 units by the end of the year as it has resolved its engine supply constraint, said group chief executive officer Tengku Tan Sri Mahaleel Tengku Ariff.

I don't think so, mate. I saw a couple of Gen2 in KL last weekend when I went back to run some errands. I would say that the design is pretty decent. But the color is horrible. But most importantly is the horrible 'car leg' (u know what this is ah? In cantonese, we call this 'cheh kiok'....ok la, it basically means suspension)....

You can hear the 'car leg' - ka kaka ka kaka kra...kra kra kra.....kraaaaa..........or something like that. It sounds very familiar to me. Because about 11 years ago, I had a proton saga. It had exactly the same sound.

At least, Proton has been consistent with their quality...they make sure that all models have this
ka kaka ka kaka kra...kra kra kra...kraaaaaa

SRJK (C) Mang Ga Li Love You

This is a very serious post (eventhough I am writing this after Liverpool suffered a 0-0 draw at Anfield with Blackburn. I think they are running out of excuses liao.....bloody hell, I am begining to feel that Liverpool does not deserve to play in Champion League next season....)

(Anyway, what am I talking about? When you grow older, you become long winded and kena sidetrack easily....)

MCA has spoken. PM has spoken. DPM has spoken. Mohd Rustam has spoken. Khairy has spoken. Jeff Ooi has spoken. (I can only link to one of Screenshot's post. If you want to know more about this SRJKC issue, I would suggest you go read Screenshot navigating around the link I gave).I only have this to say. MCA has to say what they have to say. PM says wisely with his point. DPM is getting more and more steady. Rustam is a politician, this is his capital. Khairy speaks like an idiot.

For goodness sake. SRJKC is not a racial issue. It is a choice given to the chinese, malay, indian and indonesian etc given under the constitution, to use chinese education at primary level. I came from SRJKC.....and I do not think I am in anyway against my malay friends. As long as the schools teaches the kids that Malaysia is a multiracial country and they have to tolerate each other etc etc, they can blend and make friends when they are in the Fong wan, Fong too, Fong Fhree, Fong Foh, Fong Fie and Fong Sik.....u understand ah...

My School Posted by Hello

(tiu lor, got to go meeting now, come back later.....)

(ok back)

I am however not pro chinese independent school (for secondary like Chong Wah etc). I really cannot see the benefits of doing chemistry, maths, etc etc in CHINESE. How is it gonna benefit your life? I think, as long as the chinese education is sufficient for one to read newspaper, novel, comics and argue or fight with the Chinese chinese, then it is good enough liao.

That said, this SRJKC is not a racial issue. Do we have a situation to deal with? Yes, we do. I am not gonna be shy to admit that. But do we have to sweep it under the racial issue again? I dun think so. We can structure this, for example, a new SRJKC can only be built when there is a 10% bumi quota...(TNS, you can tell that I am working in the finance industry, can't you?). Or, we can do a put and call option with the SRJK i.e. after 5 years, we SWAP students with the National SRJK. Nah, here is the 50 chinese student that I have, now give me 60 Malay students that you have...like that like that...can ah?

Well, what I am saying is, if there is a WILL, there is a way. We can DO SOMETHING about it. Don't just day day sweep under the RACIAL carpet and make every issue 'SENSITIVE'.

People will laugh at you......

3% ...whoa...3%

StanChart offers guaranteed investment/insurance fund
Standard Chartered Malaysia, in partnership with Prudential Assurance Malaysia Bhd, has launched a closed-end five-year PRUlink Guaranteed Account that combines life insurance protection and a guaranteed annual investment return of 3%.

PRUlink Guaranteed Account provides insurance protection of up to 125% of single premium for natural death or total permanent disability and 150% of single premium for accidental death. Besides minimal underwriting, no medical check-up is required.

I have to say Prudential is already one of the most innovative insurance company we have in Malaysia. But 3%......wei ....3%......3%...wor....

Imagine this insurance girl comes to your office and ask you to invest in this guaranteed dun know what shit account. Do you think she will be able to get your cock hard? ok ok....cannot be too adult...this is afterall a very serious blog.....

Prudential eats water too deep liao (basically, this means they have been too greedy). AAA bond is trading at 5.25% ++. That is as good as you can get. To offer you 3% + the useless 125% premium or whatever, the spread is a whoppy 2%....That is a money printing machine.

Wei, Auntie Twinmom, you understand what I am saying ah?

Basically, I am saying, putting money with this scheme is as bad as putting your money under the bed.....

If this product by Prudential can sell well. It means that there is a helluva liquidity in the market. Then the so called talked down yield of 6%+ for REIT is sellable.....

ok ok.....now, YTL, SunCity, Axis etc, alll got hope liao. You all can go lauch your REIT...I also want to lauch my REIT. I am going to pull my property in Pandan and Bukit Jalil and another one in Taman Midah Condo into a REIT....

You want to buy ah? :P

Saturday night

I have to do a lot of research on football today. I tell you, if I still lose again, I will hvae to go busk on the street liao...

From almost Rm1k profit and I am now in the RED of RM 1,050....

Tiu lorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :D but I am not worried. Got gamble never lose...:D (this is why many commit suicide...)

Currently, my thinking is to take Middlesborough (given 1/4 by aston villa), and bet big on this match. Also thinking of eating arsenal 1 1/2 ball.....er.....er......er......

to be continued with my football pick here....

Real estate is not about money, it is about feeeeel

This reporter is very funny...kakakkaakakkkakakakkakakakaka very humourous and say his point subtlely (wei, how to spell this ha?KP, you have not been correcting my spelling for a long time liao) (u only taught Liama, what tu-lan and kam-lan mean....)

Burj Al Arab in Dubai is indeed a very strange hotel. So fucking expansive and I bet you, when you see the hotel, you DUN find it attractive at all....you will go like 'er.....er......ok' (the ok ends with a HIGH note....like okeeekkkkkk, and it has to be long...) (ok, let's practice one more time - 1,2, go - ookeeeekkkkkeeeeeeee)

This reporter Kee Hua Chee says it well

'When you emerge from the hotel, everything – depending on your taste – seems bland or a real relief.'

ok....let's get into my point before i go further and further, further and further....furthe and further.........further and further.......(wei, dun say foul language...)

Design is not like goreng stock market - richest man does not necessarily build the most comfortable or best design hotel. Look at this, the feel is sooooo good. It is not like other minimalist design hotels which try to be simple for the sake of being simple. If you are a little contemporary (which i am not), then you might like this.

Go to this website if you plan to renovate your house or you have nothing better to do and would like to read more about design... (the work place design is fantastic...)

Aiksss....

I spend a good 30 minutes trying to save some pictures from the Desa ParkCity.....but the site is very lousy la. All the pictures half half one (you un ah? ok, let me try again - yat pun yat pun one...better ah?). So, I will write about other things first ........

Liama, are you buying their Work Live Suite? How much are they selling leh? Must the purchaser buy the whole block or he can just buy floor by floor.......?

Sigh, I have to go to Bangkok again next week...but at least my fiance is joining me on Fri, then I can at least go shopping and play play over next weekend....this afternoon have to go find a car.....thinking of Mazda 6 or Mit Colt...which one better leh? sigh...then have to contact the wedding planner otherwise cannot wed and 'dung fong' (eh.....dung fong means...eh....a man and a woman xxxxxx) in June...sigh...have to watch market...EG seems to be dieing....still have to finish some works before leaving for Bangkok on Wed....then I have to go back KL...

SEI LOR (Die lor)............. I still have soooooooooooooooooooooooo many things to do........!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is my life soooooooooooooooo bitter? :D

Thunder Loud, but small rain drop

Seven firms to be charged for the controversial U10 township

SHAH ALAM: Seven companies involved in the development of the controversial U10 township next to the Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam agriculture park would be taken to court next week for carrying out earth works without obtaining prior approval from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA).

Ah Twinmom, dun say I never 'kuan jiu' (take care of) you, I purposely write this blog title in YOUR english...:D

(btw, if you can read chinese, twinmom has a very funny blog - a lot of foul language and funny) (kakakak...Liama, i know you cannot read chinese...kakakakakakakak..you can ask KP to teach you) (dai sei)

I really hope that Ah Lah is serious about this - weeding out the bad brads in his adminstration. Illegal logging is EVERYWHERE in Malaysia especially Sabah and Sarawak..... he should really kill the rooster to warn the monkey this time. Then everyone understands that he means business.

Honestly, Malaysia is the perhaps the only country which does not require an Environment Investigation study on ALL development projects (actually, I have not been to that many countries...but I think if I said 'Malaysia is the ONLY country', the sentence sounds more 'power').

If you have read my previous posts before, you would know that I am really against the way our authorities approve development projects which cause a lot of sprawl, inefficiencies in resources utilisation etc.

Ok, to show that I am serious, I will not eat my breakfast tomorrow morning to urge the government to take these things more seriously....ahem.....I think Ah Lah will be very scared when he knows that I am not eating my breakfast tomorrow. I am sure....ok, to top it up, i also will not brush my teeth...:D
