It is a war.....

19-11-2004: AirAsia's Fernandes recognised for entrepreneurial skills
AirAsia Bhd’s chief executive officer Tony Fernandes has been recognised for his entrepreneur skills in turning around a loss-making airline into one of the most profitable and high profiled low-cost carriers in the region.
For his outstanding achievements, the former music man-turned-low cost airline extraordinaire received the BusinessWeek 's Stars of Asia award at the Eighth Annual CEO Forum held in Beijing, China recently. The award was presented by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

If you have been following this blog, you would know that I like to kiss 2 arses: Ah Wi's and Tony's. I think many would agree that Ah Wi is a good leader and there is no question about that.

I like Tony because he is perhaps the only Malaysian entrepreneur who flys the Malaysian flag in Asia. He really is remarkable, only second to Michael Owen.

Malaysia really is short of an international brand.....

Robert Kuok is rich and did his best with Shangri-la and his investments in China. But he is more like a Hongkonger these days and Shangri-la is not the top. Proton is a laughing stock wordwide. Petronas is known worldwide through sponsoring the F1 team but I have no idea why they are doing that. Are they thinking of setting up petrol stations in HK? Genting is more like a domestic giant but did his fair bit in earning Singaporean money. But it is going down hill now and even the Singapore is building their own casino. So it is all sun set for Tan Sri. YTL never quite make it in the international arena. We really have nothing except.....Rashid Sidek who won the Olympic.

Many thinks that there are more Entrepreneurs in Malaysia than Singapore. That is only half true. We only have quantity. We of course have more. We have more people ma. We also have a lot of protected businesess, VCD stalls, and Chicken Rice stalls. Singapore shot themselves in their own foot for making the society so wealthy and noone is willing to take risk and set up business.

It takes a bad boss and lousy pay, to force one to quit and set up his own business. Malaysia has lots of those.

Nevertheless, Singapore still have a lot of good brands. Singapore Airlines is surely one of the best in the world. Ascott is doing well worldwide. Capitaland and Keppel land are doing well in China and making it into India. Singtel is going around the region to buy like Santa Clause. Even a restaurant called Humble House (they serve very nice Shark Fin in Soya Bean soup. No joke, I used to work there as a waiter) invested S$1.8 mm in Beijing recently. Crystal Jade is now a regional brand in Asia.

Even China has this Haeir and TsingTao.......

Fellow Malaysian, Apathy is a sin. Complacency is also a sin! (Tiu lor, I am writing the 7 sins ah?) (KP, this one want to correct ah?)

I don't know how many times I have said that it is a dog eat dog world out there. You really have to go to China, Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong to know whom we are up against. Wei I am not asking you to go there shopping but see how they FIGHT. If you have no money to go, go watch CNBC and Phoenix of Astrol. The people in these countries have one thing in common. They are hungry for success (some are more patriotic than us too). I went to China recently and notice that many young grads in China were so focus during the internal training and they listened raptly during any kind of course that the company sent them to. They are so keen in IMPROVING. In Malaysia? Training is napping time man. Time to go home early man......'Why company sent me to this kind of stupid course ha?'

I tell you the typical life of most Malayisan young guns:-

Guy:- Work then go home play computer games. If not, go drinking. Or go mamak. Or go Video Arcade. Sex, if lucky. Weekend, play mahjong or badminton.

Girl:- Work then go home watch Wa Lai Toi. If bf and husband bags like hell, then sex. Otherwise headache.

No self improvement (except browsing porn) and no nothing.

Ok, this is getting too long liao...until I also want to doze off.....zzzzzzz...zzzzzzz..I still have to go McDonald to do night shift.

Junior (Next time I will not write posting like this. So sian and boring...but this time I have no choice, wrote half way, wash wet my hair liao)
