JOHOR BARU: The Government should drop the KTM Berhad land issue from its bilateral negotiations with Singapore, as the matter was disadvantageous to Malaysia, according to Johor Baru MP Datuk Shahrir Samad.

He said the issue was a bane for Malaysia as Singapore appeared to be using it to push for issues benefiting the republic to be resolved first. He also suggested that the proposed new bridge to replace the Causeway be scrapped and the funds instead be used to develop infrastructure in the state.

“I do not see why we should harp on the KTM land issue when I am sure we can do without the land. We need to be practical and get our priorities right. “I believe that if the two issues are taken out of the talks, we will be on a level playing field,” he told reporters yesterday when expressing his views on the Malaysia-Singapore bilateral discussions.

To be honest, I really have no idea what our MP was trying to say. It was difficult to get his point. The only impression that I had was that he was not keen to solve the problem. He does not understand the way to do negotiation. When you take out the 2 key issues of the negotiation, what is there to talk? The water thing again ah? If our MP has used the causeway before and understand HOW SLOW THE MALAYSIAN KASTAM IS, he will know that WE DEFINITELY NEED A NEW CAUSEWAY. OR we HIRE just about 200% more headcounts at our KASTAM.

Our MP also suggest that Johor Baru should be the last stop and not tanjong pagar. Does he have any idea how many Malaysian are using the train?

THIS MP HAS THE TYPICAL GOVERNMENT OFFICER ATTITUDE. HE JOB IS TO MAKE LIFE DIFFICULT FOR OTHERS.

I really do not want to go through the list of who is right and who is wrong between Malaysia and Singapore (er...er....naturally I feel that the Singaporean are asking too much la...). But I see the importance of the bilateral relationship between Singapore and Malaysia. If our government officers do not have anything clever to say, please DON'T SAY it.
